Culturally rooted food, grown with care and shared with community.
Umoja N’nguvu Farm LLC is a community-centered farm led by Beatrice Shimirimana, growing fresh, culturally meaningful produce in Washington State.
“We are a family farm rooted in community.
We grow food for everyone so every person can find something that connects to their wellbeing. We believe food is medicine.
Where I come from, when people were sick, we didn’t always have hospitals nearby. Families would go to the garden, harvest what they needed, and cook food to help the body heal. That belief is what we bring to this farm.”
Meet Beatrice
Beatrice Shimirimana is a Burundi-born farmer, mother, and small business owner building Umoja N’nguvu Farm LLC. Since beginning her farming journey in the U.S. in 2017, she has grown a farm rooted in resilience, culture, and care for community.
FOOD IS MEDICINE
“This is something I learned growing up. When someone was sick, we didn’t always go to a clinic first. We went to the garden. We picked what we had. We cooked.
After a few days, many people felt better.
That knowledge stays with me.”
At Umoja N’nguvu Farm, we grow food that nourishes the body—bitter greens, amaranth, beans, and other crops that support health.
This is not just farming. This is care.
“Farming brings me joy — and it gives me hope for the future.”
